Alex,
I put ginstall in my current working directory and it doesn't seems to make any change in the results.
Mark,
I replaced references to # with # in lib\makefile and ran make install and got this error message:

This is my compilation step: This compile is for Solaris 10. I used a prefix within myhome dir for configure instead of the default
which
is /usr/local(to avoid the sudo part)
$ ./configure --prefix=/export/home/myhome/gambit CC="gcc -Dctid_t=id_t -Dzoneid_t=id_t" --enable-single-host --enable-gcc-opts $ make $ make test $ make install The make install fails with the error message below(last few lines) :
I guess the install script that comes with Solaris is not
Gambit-friendly. I have attached the install script I use in Solaris, just unzip it and put it somewhere in your PATH. There is no need to rename the file, the configure script searches for 'ginstall'.

Sorry for asking, but is the current directory (.) in your PATH?
Cheers,
