I have just installed a recent distribution of MediaWiki and PHP, and the reCaptcha extension. In order to do this I had to use a different machine (dynamo.iro.umontreal.ca) and copy all the pages from the old wiki to the new wiki.
When a page edit is saved a visual captcha will now appear to make sure the edit has been submitted by a human user.
Please let me know if you find broken links, missing information, or other issues.

See if you can get a redirect from the old home page to the new home page.

That should already be the case. Did you forget to click the refresh button?
I had a direct link to the wiki home page (not the gambit home page) in my bookmarks bar, which is what gave the 404 error; the gambit home page itself redirects correctly to the new wiki page.

Hello.
Was the users database migrated too? I can't seem to be able to login: no user has my login.... Or is it only captcha but no more need to log in anyway?
Adrien.

I forgot to mention that the user database was not preserved. I had to do this because I can't be sure what is a human user and what is a bot. So you will have to create an account on the new site.

Well after about 4 months of operation, the new Gambit wiki seems to be a success. Remember that the old wiki was being vandalized on a regular basis. Now that a captcha is required for all edits there has been no vandalism of the wiki. Moreover it seems that the wiki main page is accessed roughly 100 times per day, which is not too bad (I just hope it is not 99% failed vandalism attempts!).
