i'm getting a bunch of warnings of the form:
warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to 'char*'
is this something I should:
1) fix via a gcc option to not give me these warnings or 2) fix something I'm doing wrong with c-ffi that's resulting in these warnings

I think the problem is that string constants are really of type "const char*", and Gambit does not yet support the "const" qualifier.
I'm planning to support this soon. For now just ignore it.

You should definitly get in the habit of including some source code lowly. Really though to answer that kind of question in the vague.
