Tried the installer on OSX Mavericks with no problems.
Might be obvious but: I remember that there are problems installing Gambit without command line tools.
All OSX users must remember to install xcode and the command line tools. In systems earlier then mavericks this is done directly from xcode. (open the preferences it is in there somewhere sorry don't remember exactly where)
On Mavericks when you have installed xcode simply type "xcode-select --install" into the terminal and it will download and install the necessary compilers. Sadly it always installs clang and llvm, the gcc and g++ on osx binaries links to the llvm equivalents. (by the way the compilation of source files are incredibly slow using clang and llvm!)
Hope it helps! :)

For the next time I see it, can you please clarify where the failure log file is stored?
Last time had no clue so just got that undifferentiated failure message and that was all.

I recall hearing that some OS X users are having problems with the installer for the prebuilt Gambit. Unfortunately I can't reproduce the problem on my computer, so I can't debug this.
I would like OS X users to try the most recent installer ( http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~gambit/download/gambit/v4.7/prebuilt/gambc-v4_7...) and if the install fails, send me the detailed error log (which you can save to disk by selecting the "Installer Log" item in the "Window" menu).
