Basic problem when building from source

I'm trying to build from source on Leopard. I grabbed the latest source tarball and ran hg pull / hg update. ./configure --enable-single-host --enable-gcc-opts --enable-shared This seemingly ran fine and then the following failed. junior:gambit joelr$ make making all in include making all in lib DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=../lib:../gsi:../gsc: ../gsc-comp -:=.. -f -c -check _io.scm /bin/sh: ../gsc-comp: No such file or directory make[1]: *** [_io.c] Error 127 make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 Any suggestions? srfi-1 and zip

Hello why does zip from srfi-1 not work? (write (zip (list 1 2 3) (list 2 3 4))) gives: == *** ERROR IN map -- Operator is not a PROCEDURE (#!unbound '#<procedure #2 procedure?> '#<procedure #3 list> '#<procedure #4 map>) == I downloades srfi-1 from snow. However, cannot install it but using srfi-1-reference which comes with snow: == gsc -link srfi-1-reference.scm test.scm gcc srfi-1-reference.c test*.scm -lgambc ./a.out == Btw: Is there a way Gambit to obtain better error messages? Reading binary files

Hello: Is there an easy way in Gambit to read binary files? I have got binary files created on my desktop Linux machine with the help of IDL. The binary files are created in Fortran 77 binary format and BIG_ENDIAN mode (IDL has such a feature). I read the files from a data base with IDL and store it in big_endian Fortran 77. I'd like to read it on my Macintosh. However, the gdl clone of idl has some problems with that particular files (I scp it from my desktop machine). The first 3 numbers in the file are Fortran integer numbers which describe the 3d dimension of the array and the following numbers in the binary file are the content of the array. My .bashr has all the paths and I also set symbolic links for libgamc.a and gambit.h. I cannot install Bigloo right now on Leopard and for this time I would like to give Gambit-C a try. Gambit-C v4.1.1 highlights

Gambit-C v4.1.1 was released earlier today. The Mac OS installers now work properly on Tiger (and Leopard). Some of the REPL's debugging functionality is now available as procedures (e.g. display-continuation-backtrace and display- exception). These can be used to implement specialized debuggers or error catchers. Two new REPL commands have been added to inspect the environment of closures (the command ",(e <closure>)") and to start a REPL in the environment of a closure or continuation (the command ",(v <closure-or- continuation>)").
