Wow! In less than a day we already have 6 new interesting packages on the Dumping Grounds: - Oops: Object Oriented Programming for Scheme -- Dylan/Clos-like but different - TinyTalk: Self-like object system with selector [Smalltalk like] dispatch - MySQL FFI: FFI for mysql - Bunny Test: A simple unit testing framework - Octave: A simple plotting interface using octave and gnuplot - Jss: JavaScriptScheme: a multithreaded Scheme to JavaScript compiler I'm sure all of the Gambit mailing list members can dig up some of their code to contribute to the Dumping Grounds. If everyone contributes a package we would have a few hundred packages in no time... let's make it happen! Marc

Where are nucleic benchmark results?

Marc: nucleic is in bench.tgz, but I don't see any results on http://dynamo.iro.umontreal.ca/~gambit/wiki/index.php/Gambit_benchmarks and Clinger doesn't have any results on his "fake r6rs" page, either. Why not? Brad

Google Summer of Code

Hello Gambit and Snow users. I will be applying to the Google Summer of Code program as a mentoring organization and propose projects for advancing the development of Gambit, Snow, and Termite. I'd like to start a collective brainstorming exercice to come up with a list of specific projects. If you are interested in participating as a student, please respond to this message (preferably on the mailing list). Please describe briefly what you would like to work on. If you cannot participate (e.g. you are not a student) but have project suggestions, then please speak up on the mailing list. Some projects ideas that come to mind: - native thread support - real-time/parallel GC - closer integration of Termite and Gambit - Gambit packages - web framework - documentation - François Pinard's projects (see MSLUG mailing-list archive) Marc

Wow this seems great as it is not as formal as snow and thus I feel better at putting code there even if its not really good ^_-Y. The thing is, how can I create a page in the wiki? I'd like to put my code on a page so that it can be browsed directly on the web, instead of having to download it, which I think is inconvenient when you just when to peek to the content of the code... I registered myself to the wiki, so now I can edit pages, but I don't understand how to create a new one, and how to link it etc... Thanks! David

You seem to have had an impact. I noticed that Ghuloum's library has a description and example of how to import implementation specific features using Gambit as an illustration. BTW, one motivation for mentioning R6RS macros is that there is a nice system for "breaking hygiene", including creation of gensym'ed temporaries. E.g.
