Hi Marc,
you can obtain spidermonkey from our repository:
hg clone http://hg.mozilla.org/tracemonkey
That clones the entire firefox tree.
And then
autoconf213
and
autoconf213 in js/src
then
cd js/src
mkdir debug-build cd debug-build ../configure --enable-debug --disable-optimize make
That builds "js", the JS engine shell.
To get an optimzied build, just do
mkdir opt-build cd opt-build ../configure --disable-debug --enable-optimize make
Build prerequisites are listed here:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/build_documentation
Let me know if you have any problems building the engine.

Hello Andreas. Can you describe the steps to get and build spider monkey? I've been Googling around and the latest version I can find (1.8.0-rc1) is more than a year old.

Andreas, I haven't heard from you in a while. I hope everything is going OK.
Do you think you can help me with getting spider monkey to build on my Mac?
