Hi everyone of the MSLUG.
First of all, thanks to everyone who came to the JazzScheme presentation.
I would like share some reflections on the presentation.
As many will agree, it was a difficult presentation. The presentation
definitely lacked focus so that in the end it didn't do a very good job of
presenting JazzScheme. My apologies for that. On the bright side, it
certainly attained one of its goals, that of showing what still needed work
before a JazzScheme release could be opened to a larger public.
On top of that, I forgot the most important thing of the presentation which
is to ask *everyone* to send me a detailed description of how
the installation of JazzScheme and the launching of the IDE went. Please
include the platform and any other relevant information. Also, please take a
few minutes to share first impressions, bugs, comments, suggestions, ... it
will help alot in getting JazzScheme ready for a public release.
For bugs, comments, suggestions, ... that you find in the future, we are
going to implement a Bugzilla for JazzScheme in the next few days. I'll send
a message to the list when it is done.
Here's a list of what will be worked on in the next weeks or so based on the
MSLUG presentation feedback :
- Finish automating release building (GC)
- Fix all problems related to binaries (GC)
- Basic support for native ./configure and make (just an error message)
(JLR)
- Fix clipboard copy crashing on Mac if clipboard contains other than
text (JLR)
- Project management revamp with one click process / application creation
(GC)
- Create tutorials about application creation (GC)
- Command line parameter to specify preferences paths (jazz jedi ...)
(!?) (GC)
- Source annotations for evaluation from text (GC)
- Document the templating of user / profile (GC)
- Fix Gambit bug on Kubuntu (MF)
- Need solution to Gambit paths being hardcoded in .o1 (MF) (GC)
- Bugzilla (JLR)
- Would be nice if a plain clone ended up creating a 'jazz' folder (JLR)
GC : Guillaume Cartier (gcartier(a)jazzscheme.org)
SLC : Stephane Le Cornec (coleste(a)videotron.ca)
JLR : Jeremie Lasalle Ratelle (pouexmachinax(a)gmail.com)
MF : Marc Feeley (feeley(a)iro.umontreal.ca)
PS: When those items are completed, I will add new tutorials to the website
about application creation and how the Jazz UI API works. It should
hopefully fill in the blanks where the presentation was lacking. I'll send a
message to the list when they are ready.
Many thanks,
Guillaume Cartier
