Hi there,
I've started programming in Clojure about a month ago and I'm now addicted to it so I would welcome a DOJO targetting Clojure ! :)
I think Clojure has also a lot of potential to bring pragmatic devs with the modern ecosystem it supports to functional programming compared to other lisp alternatives so I do think it's a good idea to adverise this. I'll see what I can do at work etc..
Maybe chosing what kind of application the DOJO would target would be a good idea first to know how to invite other groups ? Like web dev, pure software dev in general or... ?( I'm using it for web dev for now myself)
What was de San Francisco DOJO about ?
DOJO tasks are usually kept simple so that the task can be accomplished (in successive versions) in 2 hours or so by programmers who don't know the language.
In SF the task was to write a program to get out of a maze knowing only local information related to your current position. My final program was about 50 lines long. The task was sufficiently simple that Clojure novices (like me) could submit the first version of the program in 30 to 45 minutes. I enjoyed it because it was an effective way to learn some of the Clojure builtin functions and idioms, and I met some interesting developers while doing so. The organizer also provided supper for free (really good Tai food)... maybe we could find a local sponsor to do the same...
