John Tsitsiklis is an international star in the area of optimization / decision-taking (with some connections to reinforcement learning). He will give a talk on distributed averaging algorithms which are closely connected to the kinds of algorithms presented by John Langord on distributed machine learning at a recent talk also at McGill. I encourage you to go.
