It does take a few hours for me when '--enable-single-host' is enabled - and
it does use lots of virtual mem.  I have 4Gb RAM and a SSD drive for the
swap space, and it still took several hours - that's why I didn't bother
adding the '--enable-single-host' option for the iOS builds.  If you removed
that option, you'll probably find it takes only a couple of mins to build
with clang.
And as you noticed, clang doesn't appear to support several gcc flags.
