It should work, given I use basically the same setup (OS X and gcc-6) for my development.
Could you try this exact sequence to see if that works?
git clone https://github.com/gambit/gambit.git cd gambit ./configure make -j4 latest-release ./configure --enable-single-host make -j4 from-scratch make check

Hi,
I tried to build gambit on my home mac mini (macOS Sierra, 10.12.2) first with xcode/gcc using ./configure --enable-gcc-opts --prefix=/Users/kashyap/Documents/dev/gambitInstall; make -j4 latest-release; ./configure --enable-single-host --enable-gcc-opts; make -j4 from-scratch; make check
This resulted in
../gsc-boot -:~~bin=../bin,~~lib=../lib,~~include=../include -f -warnings -c -check _t-c-2.scm
make: *** [_t-c-2.c] Segmentation fault: 11
I then installed gcc using brew and tried with CC=gcc-6 option ... this too resulted in the same error. I tried running gdb (after all the certificate drama), but was not able to get any more information ...
(gdb) r -:~~bin=../bin,~~lib=../lib,~~include=../include -f -warnings -c -check _t-c-2.scm
Starting program: /Users/kashyap/Documents/dev/gambit/gsc-boot -:~~bin=../bin,~~lib=../lib,~~include=../include -f -warnings -c -check _t-c-2.scm
During startup program terminated with signal SIG113, Real-time event 113.
Am I missing a something here?

Kashyap
