Let me put it this way, R5.97RS offers us a Faustian bargain: in
exchange for our immortal soul (the crown jewel core of Scheme) we
would receive a nice library system and set of standard libraries.

And/or whatever other features you like in it.

Of course deals with the Devil seldom turn out as you'd expect....
