Hi!
I just got pointed to your website and I think it's an excellent idea.
However I think it's a bad idea that packages can only be viewed/browsed when javascript is turned on in the webbrowser. Also the cursor (in firefox) does not change when it's moved over a package name, so that it's not even clear that there is something clickable.
(See http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/mysterymeatnavigation.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Make_Me_Think)
This way the packages won't be accessible to visiually impaired or blind people using w3m or w3 (or any other browser lacking javascript).
The current package browser is not meant to be permanent and was a quick-and-dirty implementation (it is OK for now but it may not be reasonable when we have > 1000 packages). At some point it will be replaced by a HOP based browser. Anyway, I am not a web designer and I agree with you about MMN. To lessen the problem right now I have added hyperlinks on the package names.
I would be interested in other suggestions you (or anyone else) may have concerning the web package browser. What kind of information should it present? What kind of search should be possible? etc.
I hope your mailing list at least moderates non-subscriber posts, like this one.
